A medicine can be clinically well understood and still present challenges in how it is delivered, absorbed or used. The amount of drug reaching the bloodstream may vary from person to person or day to day. The way a medicine is given may contribute to side effects, create enough burden that patients stop using it, or make it difficult to use when it is needed most.
In other cases, the practical demands of treatment can affect whether patients stay on therapy, whether they can access it, or whether a caregiver feels confident administering it.
Established medicines do not always perform as well as they could in everyday life
These limitations may not lie in the active ingredient itself. They may lie in the product built around it and that creates an opportunity for better product design.

Because the active ingredient is established, development can build on existing scientific and clinical knowledge while focusing new evidence generation on the formulation, delivery system, exposure profile and other characteristics that differentiate the new product.
ReForma is building a portfolio of differentiated pharmaceutical and drug-delivery programs, encompassing but not limited to emergency and acute care, central nervous system and endocrine disorders. We start with an established medicine and a documented treatment limitation, then identify the formulation, route or delivery system best suited to address it.

ReForma completed a pre-IND interaction with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in April 2026, with feedback from that interaction informing the program's ongoing development.
